In Valpolicella only dry or bitter Recioto was produced with the autochthonous grapes of the province of Verona: Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone. The poem tells us that in 1936 the cellar master of Cantina Sociale di Valpolicella, Adelino Lucchese, tasted a glass of Recioto from a forgotten barrique. This wine was so good that he was surprised and said "This is not a bitter, it is an Amarone". Thus, almost by accident, Amarone della Valpolicella wine was born and then its variants. Produced in the same area and with the same grapes as Valpolicella Ripasso DOP Classico Superiore. Harvesting begins in October and its grapes undergo a long period of natural drying of about 3-4 months. Around January the grapes are pressed and then slowly fermented and aged in oak barrels for about 4 years. We therefore obtain a very intense red wine with notes of ripe plums and cherries, harmonious on the palate with spicy notes. We suggest a glass of this wonderful wine together with game or braised meat, aged cheese or to taste it calmly in front of the fire in winter days.
