The international grape Merlot, of French origin, was introduced in Italy at the end of 1800's in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and then quickly developed in Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, and later in Emilia-Romagna as well, finding ideal climatic situations and suitable soils in order to create surprising results even in purity. Thus we find our "Il David" Merlot Veronese IGT, from the name of the firstborn son of winemaker Ivano Venturelli, with a full, velvety and persistent taste. This great red wine is the result of the experience and the will of our winery to produce a full bodied wine suitable for aging, in an area widely oriented to the production of 'ready to drink' wines. From our vineyards located in the hills, we select the best grapes which are harvested by hand when they ripen late. Just like our Bardolino Superiore DOCG "Riflesso", it undergoes a fermentation at controlled temperature on skins, after which it is aged in French oak tonneaux for 24 months, giving the wine spicy aromas with hints of tobacco and underbrush. After that, it stays another 6 months in bottle before being consumed. We strongly suggest to match it with grilled meats, game or aged cheese.
